Nonlinear Transmission Performance of Very High Spectral Efficiency WDM Comparing Nyquist Pulse Shaping and OFDM

چکیده
The long distance transmission performance of Nyquist-WDM and OFDM, using PDM-QPSK at baud rate channel spacing, is investigated over uncompensated single mode fibre. Results show similar performance for both signal formats and good agreement with closed-form expressions for the nonlinear transmission performance of densely spaced coherent optical systems.

Building up low-complexity spectrally-efficient Terabit superchannels by receiver-side duobinary shaping.
Recently, an increasing interest has been put on spectrally-efficient multi-carrier superchannels for beyond 100G. Apart from orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) and Nyquist wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM), another low-complexity WDM approach based on transmitter-side pre-filtering and receiver-side duobinary shaping is proposed to build up multi-carrier superchannels. This...

Mazo’s concept of Faster Than Nyquist signaling is extended to pulse trains that modulate adjacent subcarriers, in a manner similar to orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) transmission. Despite pulses that are faster than the Nyquist limit and subcarriers that significantly overlap, the transmission system achieves the isolated pulse error performance. Systems with at least twice the ...

OFDM is a form of multicarrier modulation technique with high spectral efficiency, robustness to channel fading, immunity to impulse interference, uniform average spectral density capacity of handling very strong echoes and non-linear distortion. Despite of its many advantages, one major disadvantage of OFDM is that the time domain OFDM signal which is a sum of several sinusoids leads to high p...

Nowadays the Internet not only has fast growing data traffic, but also has a fast growing number of on-line devices. This leads to high demand of capacity and flexibility of the future networks. The conventional Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Nyquist pulse shaping signals have the advantage of high spectral efficiency when consisting of superchannels in the Wavelength-Div...
متن کاملNonlinear inverse synthesis for high spectral efficiency transmission in optical fibers.
In linear communication channels, spectral components (modes) defined by the Fourier transform of the signal propagate without interactions with each other. In certain nonlinear channels, such as the one modelled by the classical nonlinear Schrödinger equation, there are nonlinear modes (nonlinear signal spectrum) that also propagate without interacting with each other and without corresponding...
